Blue Mountains

In the Blue Mountains, just west of Sydney, you will find a sprawling national park dotted with picturesque towns like Blackheath, Katoomba, and Wentworth Falls. Venture into the park to find breathtaking views from numerous sandstone plateaus overlooking the eucalyptus forests below. The Blue Mountains is also home to Scenic World, where you can descend into the valley on the world’s steepest cable car or see the mountains from above on the SkyWay. Find yourself at peace with nature at Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley, a resort situated among 7000 acres of wilderness. Stargaze by a roaring fire, go horse riding through the hills, or embark on a 4WD safari.

Not only are the Blue Mountains an ideal destination for nature lovers, but they are a queer traveler’s paradise. The mountains are home to multiple LGBTQIA+ social groups which host regular events for the community. Join the Three Sisters Social Group for their annual Costume Ball and Blackheath Disco, or for their more regular lunches and dinner parties. For LGBTQIA+ families, Pink Mountains and Blue Mountains Rainbow Families hold regular events for LGBTQIA+ youth and queer families. If city nightlife is more your speed, most towns in the Blue Mountains are only an hour and a half from the Sydney CBD by car or two hours by train.
